Concept

The concept achieves these highest of requirements, realising the Clearaudio vision.

Beneath the sleek, contemporary exterior is a level of technical sophistication unique to Clearaudio.

The concept‘s body is carefully crafted from medium-density wood fibre (or, optionally, pressure-formed solid wood) with a selection of smart made-to-match surface finishes. The body’s upper layer incorporates a special high-tech satined plastic compound designed to minimise unwanted resonance.

The DC motor is fed by an external voltage-stabilised power supply and is completely decoupled from the chassis, isolating the record from any mechanical interference.

The concept tonearm features a magnetic bearing that is friction-free for extremely low distortion and superb performance. The package is completed with the high-quality Clearaudio CONCEPT MM or Clearaudio CONCEPT MC cartridge (tonearm and/or cartridge upgrade possible).

With the concept turntable package, Clearaudio offers you an extremely innovative design that is very affordable.

Concept Signature

Striving for perfection is one of the guiding principles at Clearaudio. All products from the high-end manufacturer in Erlangen embody this DNA. This includes the concept, which was introduced in 2009 and has since been very successful with over 20,000 units sold.

As an entry-level package, the concept already created a revolutionary sound package with an undisputed price, design, and performance ratio, featuring a specially developed tonearm and cartridge. After more than 10 years of consistency, the best gets even better, and the concept undergoes several updates under the new name concept Signature.

The fundamental idea behind concept Signature remains as purposeful and user-friendly as its predecessor, as all parameters of the individual components are already perfectly set at the factory.

The core of the turntable body is made of medium-density fiberboard or optionally, solid wood layers bonded under high pressure. The top layer of the turntable is made of specially satin-finished plastic. This composition minimizes resonances and ensures a perfect visual appearance.

The platter is driven by a polished flat belt from a completely decoupled direct current motor to minimize the transmission of interference noise.

The new control technology with integrated auto-calibration, new adjustment options, and additional Tacho-Speed-Control („TSC“) achieve even better measurements in terms of uniformity and impulse stability. The entirely newly developed Tacho-Speed-Control constantly monitors the speed and provides real-time feedback to the control electronics. This allows it to immediately respond to changing influences such as decreasing belt tension, friction of the platter bearing, or temperature fluctuations. Additionally, TSC performs an automatic calibration at every restart. With the new concept Signature, manual recalibration is also possible at the push of a button on the back of the turntable.

Several O-rings („IMS“) improve the motor suspension decoupled from the chassis, which is adopted in a modified form from the Reference Jubilee. Simultaneously, the new encoder forms the basis for even more features of future generations and expansion stages.

Concept Active

The concept active package (also available in a ‘wood’ version) is available with either our innovative, frictionless, magnetic bearing concept tonearm or our Satisfy Kardan Aluminium tonearm. Choose too, from our specially developed moving magnet (MM) or moving coil (MC) concept cartridges.

All critical parameters from cartridge tracking weight to anti-skating are preadjusted in our factory. With the concept active’s integrated Clearaudio phonostage, move between headphone listening and listening over amp through your speakers.

The excellent integrated headphone amplifier is suitable for all premium, dynamic headphones.

Emotion SE

This technically improved version of the well-known Emotion turntable is based on a semi-transparent chassis designed to reject harmful resonance. A 28mm-thick acrylic platter is belt-driven by a decoupled synchronous motor. The patented ceramic magnetic bearing (CMB) provides superb speed stability. A resonance-optimised physically separate die cast metal motor housing ensures that motor vibrations cannot harm the sound. This provides maximum speed stability and vibration-free replay of your favourite records from Abba to Zappa, from Beethoven to Schoenberg.

Matched with the SATISFY KARDAN CARBON tonearm and a Clearaudio ARTIST V2 moving magnet (MM) cartridge, the Emotion SE succeeds in extracting even the most delicate information stored in the record groove. Even newcomers to the world of high-end audio can now enjoy maximum accuracy of music reproduction and a superior listening experience.

Performance DC

The Performance DC is a complete package designed to open up the high-end listening experience to those ambitious music lovers who are willing to handle with the basic features of tonearm and cartridge adjustment, and who simply seek the best in music reproduction.

An enhanced version of the Performance DC with wood chassis offers even greater resonance control.A newly developed DC motor with high precision bearings and flat belt-drive, in conjunction with a platter of 40mm thick POM which rests on a Clearaudio ceramic magnetic bearing (CMB), provide optimal conditions for the correct sampling of the record groove.

The elegant and simple appearance of the Performance DC with its clear lines matches its excellent audio performance. For lovers of our moving magnet (MM) cartridges we offer both versions of the Performance DC (with/without wood chassis) as a package with the CLARIFY TONEARM and VIRTUOSO V2 cartridge. For those who prefer a moving coil (MC) cartridge, again both versions are offered as a package, featuring our SATISFY KARDAN ALUMINIUM tonearm and our outstanding TALISMAN V2 GOLD cartridge. The third and ultimate option, again offered in both versions, is the peerless combination of our award-winning TT5 tangential tonearm and essence mc cartridge.

Excellent tracking properties and hyper-accurate speed synchronisation ensure the ultimate listening pleasure, whatever your choice Performance DC package. Combine your own Performance DC.

Ovation

Within a precision-machined chassis comprising a sandwich of aluminium and panzerholz bulletproof wood, 100,000 tiny metal balls eliminate any possibility of harmful resonances. Hidden under a 40mm-thick platter made of resonancedamping POM is a very quiet decoupled DC motor with high torque.

With Clearaudio's optical speed control (OSC) and ceramic magnetic bearing (CMB), the Ovation achieves supreme speed stability and redefines the standards in its class. Audio journal 'The Absolute Sound' recognised the Ovation's superior qualities and declared it 'Turntable of the Year'.

Reference Jubilee

The new Reference Jubilee turntable marries the best of ‘Clearaudio past, present and future’ to usher in a new era of analogue precision. It delivers lifelong synchronized rotational speed, astonishingly low levels of both resonance and friction, and a breathtaking moment of torque.

Its 6cm-thick main platter is constructed from highly damped polyoxymethylene (POM) and, as you might expect with any Clearaudio turntable, the platter rotates on a special variation of the brand’s own patented ceramic magnetic bearing (CMB). The motor housing is elaborately decoupled from the chassis by an elaborate network of rubber ‘tightropes’.

While Clearaudio has earned a considerable reputation for innovation in all things analogue, here the design team has expertly married digital and analogue technology to achieve a new level of precision and consistency of rotational speed. A 12-bit DAC generates the drive motor’s voltage; the DAC has exceptionally high resolution and zero fluctuations or ‘drift’ in response to either time or temperature. What’s more, it has been cleverly designed to work in tandem with Clearaudio’s optical speed control system. Every three seconds, an optical sensor takes a reading of the 8.5kg stainless steel sub-platter’s rotational speed, and delivers that reading to a control unit; the control unit then immediately regulates the slightest deviations by adjusting the motor’s voltage via an operational amplifier.

The Reference Jubilee’s brand new air-core (non-magnetic) 24-volt DC motor, which runs unbelievably quietly, ensures that the listener remains blissfully unaware of the whole process.
